HISTORY OF TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM)
“To live is to have Qi in every part of your body, To die is to be a body without Qi, For in order to be healthy, the proper balance of Qi must be obtained; Neither too much, nor too little” -- Classic Text, Nan-Ching, 5th century B.C.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is the world’s oldest continuous surviving medical system. Some postulate that it goes back to some 5,000 to 7,000 years ago. TCM’s oldest major medical text is the Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic (Huang Di Nei Jing), compiled by unknown authors at least 2500 years ago. It is divided into two sections: Simple Questions (Su Wen) and Miraculous Pivot (Ling Shu).
TCM is based on the view that humanity is part of a larger creation, a greater body, which is the universe itself. Its understanding of health begins with the understanding of nature and the laws that govern it, and the factors that affect it:
-
theory of yin and yang
-
cycle of 5 elements (earth, metal, water, wood, fire)
-
fundamental substances (qi, blood, body fluids, essence, shen)
-
pathogenic factors (wind, cold, heat, dryness, dampness, summer heat)
-
7 emotional factors (anger, fear, shock, joy, pensiveness, worry, sadness)
COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE OR ACUPUNCTURE FACELIFT
This is a non-surgical procedure that helps rejuvenate and revitalize, not just your face, but your whole body as well. It improves blood and energy circulation, nourishes your skin, and increases collagen production to diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, sagging and dullness.
For best result, a series of 12 sessions performed weekly or twice a week is recommended. It is not a replacement to surgery, however, it is an excellent natural alternative and prevention. It is much less costly and a safer treatment. It is painless and has no negative side effects aside from an occasional tiny bruising; there is no trauma inflicted on the body or need for recovery.
SCALP ACUPUNCTURE:
Scalp acupuncture is best used for patients with neurological imbalances such as sequela of stroke, symptoms of paralysis, coordination and balancing disturbances, chorea and tremor, speech problems, etc.
AURICULAR (EAR) ACUPUNCTURE:
Ear acupuncture is a convenient technique for those on the go, and those who are afraid of needles. Needles can be replaced by ear seeds (made from the herb, Mugwort) or magnetic pellets. The ear represents the whole body. Look at the ear, can you see the image of an inverted fetus?
